Karitsu Ranch has been raising Limousine cattle for more than 25 years. Since 2021, the trend has been towards pure-bred breeding and the sale of breeding animals. There are 50 suckler cows in the main herd; overwinter a total of up to 120 animals. In addition, we have been a recognized organic meat producer since 2010
The farm’s central location is in the village of Karitsa in Rapla County, Central Estonia, where we operate on approximately 300 hectares of land. In addition, we maintain, together with Topi farm, nearly 200 ha of meadows in Western Estonia, on the coast of Matsalu Bay.
Our company is a family farm type production without permanent additional labor. The host Jaanus and the hostess Beata have to manage most of the work on a daily basis. Fortunately, we also have a number of friends and half a dozen children altogether.
We believe in the suitability of our animals and the Limousine breed for growing in the grassland of Estonia. We also believe in the sustainability of rural life through an active and cohesive village community.
What kind of meat do we prefer? A piece of grass-fed steak from a young Limousine, cooked for a minute; and there is never too much pure minced beef on the table.
